Doha (Qatar) 26 October 2018
Day two of qualifying has drawn to a close at the Losail Circuit in Qatar. Yesterday, Randy Krummenacher finished in third place in both the first and second timed practice, gaining direct access to Superpole 2. In today’s final free practice, the Swiss rider positioned second, stopping the clock on 2’01.870 (+0.604). At 5.55pm local time, Superpole 2 got underway. The team Bardahl Evan Bros. rider was unable to find the right feeling to lower his lap times, thus concluding in eleventh place. This means he will line up on the fourth row of the grid for the final Supersport race of the season, taking place tomorrow at 5.30pm local time.
It will be a hard-fought season finale during which Krummenacher will fight to secure third place in the championship.
Krummenacher, after three positive practice sessions, hoped for a better grid position but is nevertheless confident ahead of tomorrow’s race.
#RK21: “The Qatar weekend got off to a good start. After two third places in practice yesterday, and second place this morning, Superpole didn’t go as I’d imagined. The bike was the same as it was in the previous session, but something wasn’t quite right. I didn’t have feeling with the bike and so was unable to set a fast time. I don’t know exactly what it was, my team and I will now analyse things carefully to try and understand it. Eleventh is not my position, but I’ll try to stay positive because I know I can do a lot to catch up in the race.”
